About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database and Linux System Specialist to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and developing Linux platforms across the trust, working closely with clinical and operational staff to ensure seamless care delivery. As a key member of our ICT team, you will be instrumental in shaping the trust's database and Linux technology strategy, driving innovation and improvement.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Support and maintain all databases and Linux servers across the trust, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
  2. Design and implement new database systems, working closely with stakeholders to understand business needs.
  3. Lead junior or contract staff, providing technical guidance and support as needed.
  4. Continuously improve database and Linux performance, identifying areas for optimization and implementing solutions.
  5. Plan and manage multiple database projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources effectively.
Requirements
  • Evidence of a Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Certification in a recognized project management methodology (e.g., ITIL, Prince2).
  • Linux Certified System Administrator certification.
  • Excellent knowledge of scripting languages, particularly PowerShell and JavaScript.
  • Experience managing concurrent projects and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate complex issues to stakeholders.

Salary and Benefits
