About the Role:

BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Principal Safety Engineer - Programmable Elements to join our Integrated Combat Systems team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting Programmable Elements Safety Engineering activities and analysis on all areas of the combat system, including navigation, command and control, and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting safety engineering activities, such as PHA, FTA, and PSSA/SSA, to support the Combat System Design Safety Justification and Whole Boat Safety Case.
  • Determining the causes of systematic Programmable Elements Safety failures and common cause analysis.
  • Defining and monitoring Programmable Elements Safety Requirements and compliance with CASS TOES.
  • Organising and contributing to Hazard Identification workshops and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Engaging with third parties to review and gather supporting Programmable Elements Safety evidence in accordance with Def Stan 00-055.
  • Reporting the progress of Programmable Elements Safety Engineering activities at Project and Programme reviews.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled safety engineer who has a strong understanding of Programmable Elements Safety Engineering and activities contributing to the production of Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) allocation documents. The ideal candidate will have experience in Safety Engineering and Programmable Elements Safety Requirements in accordance with IEC/BS EN 61508 in the defence domain.
