Job Description:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commercial acumen and excellent leadership skills. As a Commercial and Contract Management Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in managing complex commercial relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with peers in the business areas and other parts of Commercial to agree your team's support of the split of responsibilities and ensure the business areas are trained according to their role as Contract Owners or otherwise.
  2. Influence stakeholders in the business areas to promote and implement the internal procurement policy and supplier management standards developed by the Commercial Policy and Supplier Management teams.
  3. Assist with the development of long-term category strategies to meet the long-term objectives.
  4. Agree and commercially challenge strategic Commercial priorities with business areas.
  5. Assure the delivery of the pipeline of work agreed with the business areas, including all procurement exercises, developing the markets as needed, and realizing value.
  6. Help maintain the multi-year procurement pipeline of work to ensure the team can deliver effectively.
  7. Manage the continued development of commercial competencies across the business areas in your category through regular engagement and formal training, and aligning commercial and subject-matter expertise.
  8. Manage any supplier dispute processes or complex negotiations.
  9. Be accountable for Gold suppliers as well as any cross tower (e.g., Framework) suppliers within your business area, working closely with the Relationship Owners within the Business areas.
  10. Promote and manage the support of effective contract and supplier management, helping to implement.
  11. Embed effective risk management by implementing risk controls to drive compliance to policy.
  12. Drive sustainability in the category, by notably working closely with Subject Matter Specialists.
  13. Identify and maintain a set of metrics to show performance and continual service improvement.
  14. Align with the Commercial function's efficient and consistent use of eProcurement systems, in line with the defined workflows (aligned to internal policy).
  15. Provide effective commercial challenge and complete quality assurance of tender documents (for tenders run by their team's Commercial Category Managers).
  16. Manage the workload and development of your team.

Requirements:

  • MCAIPS qualification or equivalent commercial experience
  • Proven track record of managing complex commercial relationships
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
