About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Fitness Engagement Specialist to join our team at Wakefield Council Leisure facilities on a part-time basis.

This role is critical in helping people in the Wakefield District improve their health and wellbeing through our customer journey and wider fitness product, including group exercise classes.

The successful candidate will have a direct impact on customers' health and must be enthusiastic about interacting with, educating, and supporting customers in their health and fitness journey.

This role offers a chance to collaborate with other professionals in the leisure, health, and fitness industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Delivery of our customer journey, including inductions, personal fitness programs, and supporting service users in achieving their health and wellbeing goals.
  2. Supervision of the fitness suites at WMDC facilities, providing a welcoming and friendly environment for service users while ensuring safe and effective exercise practices.
  3. Contributing to the delivery of group exercise classes, including Zumba, Aqua classes, Yoga, Pilates, Les Mills classes (Body Pump and Body Combat), High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), studio cycling, circuit or boxing-based classes.

Candidates must possess excellent customer service skills, be able to engage with diverse customers, and actively promote services delivered by Wakefield Council, such as the Aspire membership scheme.

To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate the necessary personal skills, enthusiasm, and motivation.

A minimum of a level 2 Gym/Fitness Instructor qualification, endorsed by a relevant governing body (e.g., REPS or CIMSPA), is required.

What We Offer

£25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, making this an attractive opportunity for those looking to develop their career in the leisure industry.
