Public Sector Resourcing is seeking a Fire Safety Consultant to join our team on a 12-month contract based in London. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to the fire safety of railway infrastructure.

Job Overview

The Senior Fire Safety Consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring that Network Rail's fire safety documentation meets the required standards and legislation. The consultant will conduct site visits, review existing documents, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and review all current fire safety documentation from Network Rail
  • Evaluate whether documents meet the Network Rail Fire Risk Management Strategy and relevant legislation
  • Conduct non-intrusive site visits to understand layout and identify key fire safety provisions
  • Meet with stakeholders to discuss fire safety provisions and document findings
  • Summarize verified fire safety strategy for all areas of the station
  • Assist in producing fire strategy drawings and documents for managed stations
  • Outline active and passive fire safety provisions in a comprehensive report

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Management, or related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., MIFireE)
  • Experience in using and applying codes such as BS9992
  • Experience preparing fire strategies on railway infrastructure
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting gap analyses and scenario testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentations
