Costing Analyst Opportunity at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Costing Analyst to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our costing team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing our Patient Level Costing (PLICS) Model and Service Line Reporting (SLR) system.

Working closely with stakeholders across the Trust, you will use PLICS/SLR to drive efficiency and support patient care. You will assist in the development of the costing model in line with NHS England's Approved Costing guidance and support the Trust's annual National Cost Collection return and other mandatory cost submissions.

  • Strong understanding of ABC costing principles
  • Passion for costing and data analysis
  • Knowledge of NHS Finance and accounting processes
  • Ability to handle large datasets and work with financial systems

For those completing a recognised professional Accountancy Qualification, a study package is available.

About the Role

As a Costing Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the production of the Trust's mandatory costing returns, including the National Cost Collection (NCC)
  • Working with and advising non-finance staff and clinicians on SLR information and the costing process
  • Collaborating with colleagues in Information Services, Clinical Coding, and Learning & Development to ensure accurate activity data

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Finance or Accountancy Degree
  • Knowledge of accounting processes and activity-based costing
  • Knowledge of acute hospital accounting processes, including activity-based costing
Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of financial issues facing the NHS
  • Understanding of financial systems and how to develop them
  • Experience with Oracle Financial Systems and related applications
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL
