MJ Consulting Engineers (MJC) is a specialist structural engineering firm known for its dedication and excellence in serving the events industry for over 25 years. Our team works primarily on theatre buildings, show productions, and outdoor events, as well as on the preservation and enhancement of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.

Job Opportunity
We are seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our Manchester office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful, high-value projects with project costs up to £12m. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use the latest design software and work closely with our experienced team members.

Responsibilities
As a Graduate Structural Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Creating and managing structural designs using the latest design software.
  • Ensuring projects are appropriately resourced and delegating work to team members.
  • Preparing calculations, drawings, details, specifications, and reports for a wide range of structures and materials.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent (Masters degree preferred).
  • An understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
  • The ability to use industry design standards, such as Manual for Streets.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to offer solutions to challenges.
  • The ability to work and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop your skills and career with training support.
  • Good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage workload.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • A full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the UK.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK and be able to demonstrate proof when requested.
