Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a mainstream primary school setting.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting classroom teachers, ensuring that all students, especially those with SEN, have the support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the classroom teacher to provide tailored support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.

Assist in the planning and preparation of learning activities, including adapting materials to meet individual student needs.
Provide one-on-one or small group support for SEN students, fostering their confidence and independence.

Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies, working with other staff and external agencies to ensure student progress.

Support the emotional and social development of all pupils, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Supervise students during break times, on outings, and during other non-classroom activities.
Maintain open communication with parents, carers, and other professionals involved in the student's education.
Attend regular staff meetings and professional development sessions to stay updated on educational practices and SEN Requirements:

A minimum of 2+ years of experience as a teaching assistant, with significant experience in SEN support.
A strong understanding of SEN requirements, including experience with a variety of learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and social/emotional needs.
Commitment to the school and a genuine interest in career progression within the education industry.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals.

A proactive, patient, and compassionate approach, with a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of all students.

Flexibility and adaptability in supporting the changing needs of students and the school environment

Desirable Qualifications:
SEN training or certification.
Relevant qualifications in education or child development.
Experience using assistive technology or tools to support SEN students.
