Are you an experienced gardener seeking a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Gardener to join our team at Godinton House Preservation Trust.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to manage our historic Italian and rose gardens, herbaceous borders, walled garden, and terraced lawns. The successful candidate will lead a team of garden staff, trainees, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring the highest standards of gardening excellence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of the gardens, including plant management, lawn care, hedge trimming, and glasshouse work.
  • Plan and implement garden maintenance programmes, including seasonal pruning, planting, and propagation.
  • Supervise and train junior members of the garden team.

We offer a competitive salary of £42,000 per annum, plus pension, and good accommodation available on site. In addition, we provide 25 days' holiday entitlement per year, plus bank holidays.

The ideal candidate will have excellent plant knowledge and experience in garden management. A relevant horticultural qualification, such as a National Certificate in Horticulture or RHS, is desirable.

Working hours are full-time with occasional weekend hours required for watering and other duties.
