Senior Mechanical Engineer

CV Library is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. The successful candidate will work on-site 2-3 days a week, with a competitive hourly rate of £58.06 (Inside IR35).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer.
  • Develop design solutions based on customer or internally derived requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process.
  • Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers.
  • Carry out technical analysis and investigations, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor assigned projects or work packages, ensuring that requirements are delivered to plan.
  • Populate design development documentation using a Formal Design Review process (FDR) through the stages of: Requirements & Root Cause Analysis, Developing Candidate Solutions, Candidate down selection and risk reduction, Development for manufacture, Qualification, and Concept and development of weapons sub-systems.

  • Analytical skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Presentation/report writing skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to operate at all levels within the company and with the customer
  • Experienced in CAD (ideally PTC Creo, Solidworks, Inventor or similar)
Desirable Skills:
  • Engineering background in a weapons system or design for military use
  • Structural/Stress analysis (MS Excel, Mathcad, FEA {PTC Simulate / Ansys})
  • System control (Matlab/Simulink)
  • Hydraulic system design
  • Material selection and manufacturing techniques
  • Product Lifecycle Management Tool experience (ideally Teamcenter)

The ideal candidate will have excellent team skills, be self-motivated, fast-learning, and have the ability to prioritize and manage their own work with minimal guidance. Due to the nature of this role, you will be subject to both security and export control restrictions.
