Senior Controls Specialist

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Process Controls Engineer to join our team at Greif. In this role, you will be responsible for applying your knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical controls, as well as PLC programming, to support projects related to the repair, upgrade, or replacement of facility equipment and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in projects that support the maintenance, repair, upgrade, or complete replacement of facility controls and equipment.
- Manage projects and provide scope development, cost and time estimates, evaluation of costs and benefits, tracking, controlling, and reporting.
- Program manufacturing equipment PLCs and other controls, and provide equipment controls technical support to project engineers, vendors, facility managers, and internal maintenance on projects.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure components and assemblies comply with customer specifications.
- Create training manuals and conduct training for machine operators and maintenance team.
- Prepare equipment and controls specifications and place orders.
- Evaluate existing equipment and controls with regard to productivity, cost-efficiency, and safety, and make recommendations for possible improvements.
- Conduct processes optimization trials, perform troubleshooting and analysis, and develop strategies to reduce product variability, waste, and operating costs.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all work performed and prepare monthly quality and production reports.
- Prepare and ship samples for compliance testing and analyze outside lab compliance tests.
- May support visible emissions evaluation, inspections, or chemical inventory duties.
- Stay current on engineering technologies and trends for process improvement potential.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 4-8 years of experience.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of electrical engineering with experience in machine controls, system analysis, design, development, and troubleshooting.
- Possesses a working knowledge of cost estimation, specification, and codes.
- Possesses strong interpersonal, communications, project management, and time management skills.
- Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possesses technical acumen and understanding of financial concepts (cost analysis, budgets).
- Demonstrates strong CAD and PLC programming skills.
- Engineering degree preferred.
