Financial Controller for Local Authority

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at Brackenberry. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to work closely with a local authority in Bexley.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the Council's accounts are produced in compliance with all statutory accounting requirements. Additionally, they will provide technical accounting advice to senior management, members, and finance staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
- Provide expert guidance on financial planning and budgeting.
- Analyse financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Manage key reconciliations and suspense accounts.
- Prepare and submit VAT and tax returns.
Requirements
- CCAB qualification or equivalent relevant finance experience.
- Participation in Continuing Professional Development.
- Detailed knowledge of accounting requirements for capital and revenue expenditure.
