Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Heart Failure Nurse Specialist to join our team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing specialist assessment, investigations, treatment, and advice for patients admitted to hospital with a possible diagnosis of heart failure.
Main Duties of the Job
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive management of heart failure patients within the outpatient setting to improve their quality of life and prevent hospital admissions.
- Arranging and interpreting appropriate investigations to ensure evidence-based treatment and management plans are created for all patients.
- Undertaking advanced clinical assessment and providing specialist advice, education, and support to patients, their carers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Supporting and assessing competencies for trainee Heart Failure Nurses.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 2 years' experience as a Heart Failure Nurse Specialist in a UK setting.
- Evidence of continued professional development related to cardiology.
- Knowledge of cardiac pharmacology.
Qualifications and Training
The successful candidate will hold:
- A Registered Nurse qualification.
- A Mentorship/teaching and assessment qualification.
- A Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification or be working towards it.
Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of cardiac heart failure nursing and service delivery requirements.
- Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, written, and verbal.
