Job Title: Production Manager

Responsible to: Production and Engineering Director

Reporting positions: Production Department / Hot End Foremen

Location: Rotherham

Shift Pattern: Days (Monday-Friday)

Main Areas of Responsibility
  • Collaborate with the Production and Engineering Director to ensure production targets and factory standards are met
  • Ensure daily/weekly efficiencies are achieved
  • Minimize the production of quarantine and implement improvement initiatives
  • Participate in sampling on IS Machines
  • Solve problems on IS Machines on a day-to-day basis
  • Liaise with the Hot End Change Team
  • Ensure the supervisory team follows all procedures related to machine operation and factory safety procedures
  • Participate in jobs on/jobs off meetings
  • Heavy involvement in the 4-week plan – liaise with Production and Engineering Director, Planner, Cold End Manager, and Engineering Manager
  • Chair daily production meetings
  • Daily meetings with Shift Manager and Cold End Foreman
  • Produce a weekly summary of production
  • Manage cost centers for the Hot End
  • Liaise with the Purchasing Department
  • Manage overtime
  • Manage Hot End recruitment with individual line manager
  • Participate in any internal re-structures
  • Involvement with Health & Safety – update risk assessments, manual handling, update JSI's, accident investigations, and recommend improvements
  • Liaise with on-site contractors
  • Monitor Shift Production Supervisor's Process Control Sheets
  • Monitor absenteeism in the Hot End, including any disciplinaries and grievances
  • Update on any issues with production – e.g., glass faults
  • Monitor and log bottle faults daily
  • Log job specifications
  • Process improvement – identify areas for quality and quantity improvements
  • Produce a monthly report
  • Identify cost savings within the Hot End
  • Investigate reasons why we have not achieved the standard issued in the plan
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested within skill set
Person Specification
  • Excellent Communication skills at all levels
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Process Control experience
  • PC literate
  • Glass manufacturing experience (Essential)
