About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Applications Engineer to join our team at Galliford Try. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and testing PLC, HMI, and SCADA software, as well as producing associated documentation that meets industry standards and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and interpret project requirements, including functional, control, and system specifications.
  • Design and develop software solutions, including I/O lists, functional design specifications, and test plans.
  • Program PLCs and HMI's, including Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi, and configure SCADA systems, such as Wonderware, Rockwell, and Siemens.
  • Deliver projects on-time and to budget, ensuring compliance with industry standards and contractual requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and methodologies, conducting system analysis and development, and testing and proofing programs to ensure functionality, logic, and syntax are correct.
  • Document code consistently, ensuring it can be understood by others, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients and personnel.

About You:

  • Excellent IT skills, including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Databases.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and logic auto-generation from templates.
  • Mechanical skills and understanding, as well as knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Previous experience writing PLC code in a customer-focused environment.
  • Solid report writing skills, including functional design specifications and test plans.
  • Commercial awareness and health and safety awareness.
  • Experience in the Automotive, Food and Beverage, and Water and Waste industries.
