About the Role

Lower 48 Energy is a UK-based company accelerating the clean energy transition by developing and deploying Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets at strategic locations in the UK.

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our electrical design function, ensuring efficient and safe implementation of BESS projects from concept to commissioning.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior executives, contributing technical expertise and supervision across every phase of project advancement.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a pioneering engineering and development company and add value to its operations.

The position will be supported by 1-2 power engineers to support the design and modelling efforts initially, with potential for team growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and lead the Electrical Design Functionality for Lower 48 Energy
  • Develop and evolve our in-house grid targeting strategy
  • Model and assess current grid connections for future curtailments and constraints
  • Oversee all grid development processes
  • Serve as primary contact for network utilities
  • Manage ICP tender and selection processes
  • Collaborate with the team to assess grid suitability for early-stage projects
  • Establish and maintain relationships with leading ICPs
  • Provide grid/connection technical support during asset construction
  • Develop and manage in-house grid technical standards and tools

The salary for this role is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
