Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Alexander Steele Recruitment is working with a leading food manufacturing business in Peterhead to recruit a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of equipment and providing full engineering support to the Engineering Team Leaders, Engineering Manager, and Chief Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume responsibility for planned and preventative maintenance, developing PPMs where possible.
  • Resolve machine breakdowns to ensure maximum line efficiency of the production process.
  • Maintain the engineering stores by identifying parts and raising requisition forms for repairs and stock replenishment.
  • Ensure current practices meet Health and Safety and Food Safety standards, and where possible, exceed requirements.
Requirements:
  • Formal engineering qualification to at least City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC level, or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background with well-developed analytical fault-finding skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining modern processing plant machinery is preferred.
  • Previous experience in food processing equipment is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficient in mechanical fitting/fabrication and associated equipment, including lathe, milling machine, and welding equipment (TIG and MIG).
