Job Overview

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology is seeking a highly skilled Membership Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Membership Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our members and those looking to join the Institute.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with the Institute's Royal Charter and By-Laws, as well as other relevant rules and regulations.
  • Support the Membership Committee with administrative tasks.
  • Respond to member inquiries via telephone and email.
  • Manage membership and professional registration applications.
  • Process payments for applications and renewals.
  • Liaise with external bodies to ensure smooth licensing inspections.
  • Support registration activities and licence reviews.
  • Maintain and improve processes and documentation related to your areas of responsibility.
  • Present online and face-to-face sessions on membership and professional registration.
  • Represent the Institute at national and international events, if required.
About the Ideal Candidate
  • You have previous experience working in a membership body or similar environment in a busy, customer service-focused office setting.
  • You are comfortable interacting with members, industry professionals, academia, governmental bodies, and other professional organizations.
  • You possess strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • You are IT proficient and comfortable using CRM systems.
  • You are an ambitious team player ready to learn and develop.
  • You have a confident engaging telephone manner.
  • You have attention to detail.
  • Presentation skills are desirable.
