About the Role

Downend Health Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Lead to join our corporate services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the financial transactions and reconciliations of the Practice, ensuring high levels of accuracy and standards of financial probity.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and bookkeeping, with experience of working with QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping systems. You will be responsible for producing a monthly financial report, processing income and expenditure information, and managing bank accounts. You will also be expected to provide support to the Practice Accountant and ensure that all financial systems are in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Manage the financial transactions and reconciliations of the Practice, ensuring high levels of accuracy and standards of financial probity.
  • Maximising Income and Minimising Expenditure: Identify opportunities to maximise income and minimise expenditure, ensuring that the Practice is operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Reconciliation of Income: Reconcile income from various sources, including NHS payments and private consulting rooms.
  • Annual Budget Setting: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, ensuring that the Practice is financially sustainable.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce a monthly financial report, highlighting any areas of concern and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Bank Account Management: Manage the Practice's bank accounts, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Support to the Practice Accountant: Provide support to the Practice Accountant, ensuring that all financial systems are in place and that the Practice is compliant with all financial regulations.

Person Specification

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Finance/Bookkeeping qualification or appetite to work towards AAT
  • Experience of QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping systems
  • Experience of detailed numerical reconciliations

Desirable

  • Experience of working with a multi-skilled team
  • Experience of working in Primary Care
