Job Description

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team in Cambridge. As a Data Engineer, you will work with other engineers, analysts, and end-users to create solutions that integrate with our products. You will be responsible for inspiring best practices for data products and services, building data engineering capability, and working with colleagues to identify, plan, develop, and deliver data services related to critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Digital team to identify, plan, develop, and deliver data services that support various workstreams.
  • Ensure data is managed and analyzed in a secure, efficient, and well-governed manner.
  • Implement and optimize data pipelines, data modeling, and data availability to speed up time-to-production.
  • Ensure quality of delivery and in-depth understanding of business requirements.
  • Work closely with data architects, TechOps engineers, and other stakeholders to build integrated, high-performing solutions.
  • Apply pragmatism and innovative thinking to make data-driven decisions that add value.
  • Collaborate with the Data and Analytics team and the wider Abcam Digital team to address issues with software and integration delivery.

Requirements

You have a BSc in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related subject, and significant technical experience. You have experience working with a modern cloud data stack and integrating in-house and vendor-based components of the stack. You will have in-depth SQL experience and be able to think creatively about solving issues.
