Laboratory Director

Overview:

Univar Solutions is a leading global distributor of chemicals and ingredients essential to daily life. We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Director to join our team in Billericay, reporting directly to the site Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all laboratory-related activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Manage laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet company expectations.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures, policies, and standards for production processes.
• Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance quality.
• Establish and track KPIs for the laboratory department.
• Support non-conformance rectification through a robust CAPA/Root Cause investigation system.
• Train and assess laboratory personnel on quality control procedures and standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records of quality control activities.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations related to food safety and quality control.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a team manager or leader.
• A scientific qualification (Chemistry preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Strong IT, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Versatile interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary of £65,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including market-aligned pay and incentives, diverse benefits offerings to support physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
