Special Needs Support Assistant

We are a leading provider of education and care services for children and young adults with severe and complex medical needs. Our all-through SEN school caters to students aged 4 to 19 years, offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
Role OverviewAs a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping our students achieve their full potential. You will provide individualized support, ensuring the physical, emotional, and medical needs of our students are met throughout the school day. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and medical professionals to create a tailored support plan for each student.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care, including feeding, toileting, and moving and handling where necessary
- Assist students with severe and complex medical needs, working alongside healthcare professionals to administer medication and follow care plans
- Support students in classroom activities, ensuring accessibility and inclusion in lessons
- Help manage challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour support techniques
- Encourage independence and social development, fostering a positive and supportive environment
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies
- Previous experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEN)
- A compassionate, patient, and positive attitude
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to undertake further training, including medical care and moving and handling
- Desirable: Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
