Head of Geography Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Geography to join our team at a lovely school in Barnet. This exciting leadership position offers an April start and provides a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a thriving school community.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the geography department, developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the department and inspiring students to develop a lifelong love for geography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Geography teachers, providing guidance and support for their professional development
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging geography curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department
  • Build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents to foster a supportive learning environment
  • Manage department resources and budget effectively
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in geography education
Requirements
  • A degree in Geography or a related field
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and preferably a postgraduate qualification in education or leadership
  • Proven experience as a Geography teacher, with a track record of delivering exceptional results
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
  • Excellent knowledge of the geography curriculum and assessment requirements
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Experience in a leadership role in a school setting would be advantageous
