Job Title: Contract Commercial Paralegal

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced paralegal to join our Legal Services Team (LST) in the UK. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal support to our colleagues and clients globally, across all business lines.

Role Purpose:

The LST's mission is to deliver efficient, consistent, innovative, and high-quality legal support across business units, staff groups, and jurisdictions. We are looking for a motivated and proactive paralegal with commercial awareness and experience in commercial contracts.

As a Contract Commercial Paralegal, you will contribute to the team by:

  • Identifying and effectively handling legal risk
  • Supporting senior lawyers and legal teams in GCO, primarily across the EMEA region, and beyond as required
  • Providing legal support across all business units, including drafting, reviewing, analysing, and negotiating commercial agreements and legal documents
  • Carrying out legal research on behalf of GCO colleagues
  • Assisting on projects, including regulatory horizon scanning and contract reviews
  • Supporting internal governance and approval processes, including coordinating internal partners and corporate governance/company secretarial matters
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure LST's adherence to company-wide and GCO-specific processes and procedures
Requirements:
  • Experienced paralegal in commercial contracts
  • Fluency in French/German/Italian/Spanish would be beneficial but not required
  • In-house experience in financial services is preferred
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritise, and work as part of a team or autonomously under time pressure to meet deadlines and manage clients' expectations
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, reliably, and persuasively with clients, business stakeholders, legal management, and external regulators, both orally and in writing
