Job Purpose

As a Data Governance Specialist at the Education Authority, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and improving the organisation's data governance processes. Your primary objective will be to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions that enhance data quality, trustworthiness, and safety.

Responsibilities

Technical

  • Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Develop and implement data governance processes and competencies that optimise data safety, value, and quality throughout the data life cycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data trustworthiness and make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Work with management to minimise data risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Support data literacy training and development to enhance staff capabilities.

Managerial

  • Work with the Data Analytics and Insights Manager to establish a clear strategic direction for the Insights Centre of Excellence.
  • Direct and manage your strand of the Data Strategy, ensuring alignment with the Education Authority's strategic direction and relevant policies.
  • Line manage employees assigned to support the Insights Centre of Excellence, providing clear structure, strategies, and policies for their work.
  • Ensure that employees within the Insights Centre of Excellence work in an integrated manner, supported by clear roles and responsibilities.

Cultural

  • Promote the Education Authority's corporate vision, values, and culture, ensuring that all processes align with these principles.
  • Deliver/Manage service budget in accordance with financial policy and procedures.
  • Establish effective quality assurance systems to achieve the highest possible standards of performance.
  • Foster a culture that supports achievement of the authority's Strategic Plan by role modelling core values and leadership behaviours.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. They will also have strong leadership and management skills, with experience in data governance, quality assurance, and compliance.
