Job Description

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team in Cheadle, UK. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of complex defence systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • System Definition: Develop and maintain system requirements, functional and physical definitions, and ensure alignment with customer needs.
  • Design Reviews: Prepare and present system-level design reviews to ensure effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and Execution: Oversee the monitoring of emerging detailed design within various implementation teams, including acoustic, hardware, mechanical, and software teams.
  • IVVQ Planning and Execution: Plan and execute Integrated Verification and Validation (IVVQ) activities, including platform trials as required.
  • Requirements Sell-off and Contract Acceptance: Ensure requirements are met and contracts are accepted with customers.
  • Customer and End-user Liaison: Develop and maintain relationships with customers and end-users to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • System Performance Analysis: Analyze system performance to ensure it meets customer requirements.
Requirements:
  • Essential: Demonstrable relevant systems engineering design and development experience in the defence industry, strong analytical abilities, and a methodical approach.
  • Desirable: DOORS practitioner, working knowledge of architecture frameworks, system modeling skills, and familiarity with SCRUM methodology.
Experience:
  • Essential: Demonstrable relevant systems engineering design and development experience in the defence industry, knowledge of acoustic design and/or performance in underwater environments, and demonstrable knowledge of SONAR systems.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of maritime domain operations and/or products, MatLab or equivalent experience, and understanding of signal processing and network design.
