About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Allocator to join our team at Selfridges. As an Allocator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our stores have the right stock at the right time to maximize sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximize stock availability and stockturn through effective use of auto replenishment and allocation.
  • Optimize stockturn by identifying slow-selling products and recommending actions to improve performance.
  • Action the transfer of stock between stores and distribution centers, ensuring timely delivery and meeting return-to-vendor deadlines.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the department, including concession performance, best and worst sellers, competitor activity, and market trends.
  • Input markdown instructions following direction from the Merchandiser/Assistant Manager.
  • Collaborate with the distribution center to resolve queries and highlight any unresolved issues.
  • Chase suppliers for timely delivery of orders within allocated delivery windows and assist with booking in at the distribution center as needed.
  • Monitor supplier fulfillment rates on deliveries and highlight any poor performers to the Assistant Manager.
  • Provide weekly, seasonal, and ad-hoc analysis for the Buyer and Merchandiser to inform them of risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in relevant systems, including Retek, Excel, and Essbase, and attend training sessions as required.

  • You will have strong retail knowledge and a solid understanding of merchandising principles.
  • You are organized, proactive, and able to multitask, prioritize, and work to tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • You are a problem solver, able to apply different ways of thinking in various situations.
  • You are an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across various teams.
  • You are a proactive team member, willing to collaborate with the wider Buying and Merchandising teams.
  • You are pacey, positive, and flexible, responsive to business needs, and willing to take responsibility for your tasks.
  • You are analytical and results-driven, able to use data to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • You are systems-literate, proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office software, with high levels of accuracy.
  • You embody our values, demonstrating trustworthiness and respect as a colleague.
