We are looking for a skilled Database Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database infrastructure to ensure high performance, security, and scalability.

The ideal candidate will have experience with database design and architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and cloud database infrastructure management on AWS/GCP using Infrastructure as Code. You will also have a proven track record of working closely with software engineers and a strong ability to solve complex technical issues.

Responsibilities will include monitoring and optimizing the performance of our PostgreSQL database estate, keeping our database estate up to date, managing and monitoring data replication, leading regular disaster recovery testing initiatives, and owning and improving technical documentation and processes for database tasks.

You will also contribute to the development of our in-house developed database manager tooling and own cost optimisation, reviewing and proposing recommendations for optimising database footprint, including reserved instance lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:

  • Strong ability to solve complex technical issues
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and cloud database infrastructure management
  • Knowledge of Postgres configuration settings and understanding of Postgres' vacuum/MVCC process
