Service Charge Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Service Charge Accountant to join our team at Nouvo Recruitment London. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of service charge accounts, working closely with managers to meet deadlines, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of service charge expenditure, identifying and correcting posting errors, and completing journal transfers, accruals, and prepayments as required.
  • Maintain the general ledger and complete reconciliations coinciding with the year-end for the service charge function, ensuring all imbalances are identified and corrected.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure accounts are completed with a high degree of accuracy, meeting deadlines and exceeding client expectations.
  • Produce balancing schedules to apportion service charge expenditure on the correct basis, taking into account income billed on account, occupancy changes during the period, and tenant caps.
  • Complete variance analysis and produce final reports, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Reconcile prior agent information following new purchases, ensuring compliance with sales contracts.
  • Closure of the final service charge reconciliation following sales, ensuring completion in line with sales contracts, and providing closing accounts to the purchaser, resolving any queries, and clearing all ledger balances.
  • Act as a key liaison with internal stakeholders on service charge matters, resolving tenant and client queries arising following the completion of the service charge accounts.
Requirements:
  • Experience working within Property Accounts and knowledge of service charges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-organized with good initiative, ability to manage own time to meet KPI deadlines.
  • Computer literate, specifically with Excel and Word.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Professional manner, ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Qube and Propman.
