About Midlothian Council

Midlothian Council is a local government authority responsible for providing public services in the Midlothian area. The council operates 38 schools, including six secondary schools, 32 primary schools, and two standalone nursery schools. One of these schools is Saltersgate, which provides support for children with various difficulties. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. Our schools range in size, from our smallest primary school with around 20 students to our largest secondary school with over pupils.

As an art education professional, you will be part of this vibrant community, contributing to the educational development of students. You will be responsible for teaching art-related subjects, developing lesson plans, and assessing student progress. Your role will also involve working with colleagues to create a supportive learning environment.

Salary Information

The salary for this position is estimated at £33,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This figure is based on national averages for teachers in the UK. Please note that salaries may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a valid teaching qualification and relevant experience in teaching art-related subjects. You should also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Additionally, you will need to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check as part of the hiring process. If you are successful, you will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme.
