Job Title: Control Engineer

Job Summary:
Astute People is partnering with a leading Sugar Producer to recruit a Control Engineer for its site in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The Control Engineer will be responsible for creating control strategies from user requirements and P&ID documents, designing control strategies based on process descriptions, and maintaining the software and hardware components of the factory control system.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Create control strategies from user requirements and P&ID documents.
2. Design control strategies based on process descriptions.
3. Maintain the software and hardware components of the factory control system, including Honeywell DCS.
4. Be the point of contact to assist the operations team during issues on site.
5. Understand user requirements for different projects (new plant / system plant / modifications / process optimisation).
6. Assist in the supervision of Electrical and Control design, planning, install, and commissioning of new systems.
7. Engage with key stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood.
8. Uphold a high level of health and safety while collaborating with fellow team members.
9. Be a member of the control team out of hours on-call rota.

Professional Qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
1. HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. Detailed understanding of industrial control systems, specifically Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
3. Understanding of various industrial communication protocols (i.e. Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, HART etc.).
4. Strong IT skills and a good understanding of cyber security protocols.
5. IOSH / NEBOSH is highly desirable but not essential.

Personal Skills:
The Control Engineer role would suit someone who is:
1. Able to work well alone as well as part of a team.
2. Driven with the desire to achieve.
3. Able to work an on-call rota.

Salary and Benefits:
The starting salary for this role is £57,000 - £63,000, with benefits including private medical insurance (BUPA) and 10% pension, as well as progression and personal development opportunities.
