About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, maintaining patient dignity and privacy
  • Work alongside registered nurses to provide essential nursing care for patients
  • Assist patients with daily living tasks, including hygiene, continence, and nutrition
  • Support patients with mobility needs and provide pressure area care
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families
  • Take and record patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition to the registered nurse
  • Train and support new and junior team members, including student nurses
Requirements
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to complete accurate documentation
  • Awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
  • Committed to providing high-quality patient care
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard
  • Basic IT skills, including word processing and email
  • Ability and willingness to undertake training within given time frames
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and moving across wards/unit dependant on clinical need
  • Able to demonstrate a calm, caring patient manner/attitude
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to working within the healthcare setting
  • Able to meet the physical and developmental demands of the role
