We are seeking an experienced Slaughter Operative to join our team at Kepak McIntosh Donald. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the slaughter, dressing, and preparation of carcasses and edible offal in accordance with our Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform slaughter, dressing, and preparation of carcasses and edible offal at line speed
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing processes and adopt new methods of working
  • Meet daily targets by completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ensure product quality and report any issues to the Line Supervisor
  • Be familiar with the daily production plan and work collaboratively to set up the line, complete checks, and ensure materials are ready for use
  • Perform prestart, hygiene, and safety checks as instructed
  • Maintain a good understanding and knowledge of Company SOPs and yields
  • Comply with quality specifications and understand yield values
  • Comply with Company's knife and health and safety rules, including hygiene requirements
  • Report equipment breakages, damages, or defaults to the Line Supervisor and only use equipment when safe to do so
  • Report accidents or near misses and assist with investigations as necessary
  • Minimise and report waste appropriately
  • Prepare carcasses and offal to the required standards
  • Maintain and securely store tools and equipment
  • Participate in all required Company training

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in slaughter and/or knife skills
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume meat processing factory is beneficial
  • Able to work in a warm environment
  • Manual handling ability and awareness
  • Fluent English, with good written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to meet daily production targets
  • A consistent approach and strong work ethic
  • Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Adaptable to change and production demands
  • Passion for food

  • Standard working week: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week, 6am start
  • Overtime rate: time and a half applies when working over 44 hours/week
