Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Public Sector Accountant to join our team in the Department for Communities- Housing Finance Branch. As a key member of the Housing & Sustainability Group, you will play a vital role in providing financial expertise and guidance to ensure effective budget management and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of budget management and monitoring reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with budgeting & accounts colleagues, NIHE finance, Central Budgeting, and other stakeholders to optimize resource utilization and capital budget efficiency.
  • Develop and review business cases using the Five Case Model approach.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations on the NIHE Budget Submission.
  • Review and provide comments on information included by NIHE in board papers, performance meeting papers, etc.
  • Assess and approve NIHE Pay Remits.
  • Manage the NIHE monthly Cash Drawdown.
  • Conduct reviews of NIHE consolatory payments, losses, and write-off cases.
  • Support external and internal audit queries, Assembly Questions, NIHE Accountability updates, and Freedom of Information requests as required.
  • Attend meetings and deputise as necessary.
  • Perform other ad hoc finance returns and duties as required.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of **£45,000 - £55,000 per annum** and benefits that include flexible working arrangements and hybrid working options.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must be a professionally qualified accountant with at least one year's experience gained in the last five years, in a finance-related environment, in areas such as financial planning and budgeting, financial accounting/auditing, forensic accounting/insolvency-related work, management accounting and cost analysis, investment finance, treasury management, and/or development/implementation of financial systems.
