About the Role



As a key member of the Governance, Risk and Compliance department, you will play a vital role in shaping the University of Northampton's health and safety strategy. Reporting to the Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance, you will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, driving a culture of excellence in health and safety across the institution.

About You



We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor with a proven track record of delivering successful health and safety initiatives in a complex organisational environment. You will have in-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, fire safety regulations, and industry best practices. Your expertise will enable you to provide guidance and support to line managers, ensuring that they meet their statutory obligations and maintain a safe working environment for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities



• Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies aligned with the university's goals and objectives
• Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify areas for improvement
• Provide training and guidance to staff on health and safety procedures and protocols
• Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing comprehensive reports for senior management
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver safety management systems and process solutions

Qualifications and Experience



You will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, with membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) to at least Technical Standard or equivalent. Working towards a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is desirable. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
