Job Title: Sports Coach Basketball

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Coach to join our team at The Perse School Cambridge. As a Sports Coach, you will be responsible for coaching basketball throughout the school, developing and sharing teaching and learning resources, and monitoring the progress of pupils.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coaching basketball to children of various ages and abilities
  • Developing and implementing the basketball program and teams across the school
  • Creating and sharing teaching and learning resources
  • Monitoring pupil progress, including those with specific learning needs
  • Maintaining professional skills through INSET and professional development programs
  • Ensuring activities and events are staffed, resourced, and compliant with health and safety regulations and school policies
  • Striking a balance between providing high-quality sport for all and achieving excellence for some
  • Instilling a sense of commitment and enthusiasm for sport, balancing role modeling of sporting etiquette with skill development and competitive action
  • Attending, coaching, and officiating school fixtures
Requirements:
  • Track record of coaching excellence and strong subject knowledge in basketball
  • Relevant and recent coaching qualification or commitment to attend professional development
  • Genuine passion for working with and coaching young people
  • High standards of behavior and ability to model school values
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and use initiative
  • High-order administrative skills, effectively managing commitments and deadlines
  • ICT competence and willingness to learn and use new technologies
  • Collaborative and supportive working style
  • Emotional resilience to cope with and learn from challenging situations
