About the Role
As a Specialist Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students aged 11-16 with special educational needs, including Autism and associated conditions. Working alongside our experienced teaching team, you will provide both academic and vocational support, helping students excel in their educational and personal development. Whether it's in the classroom, outdoors with Bushcraft, or in life skills activities, your role will make a real difference.
In this role, you will provide essential support in a highly specialised learning environment, helping students to manage sensory overload, anxiety, and transitions while working towards their personal and educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to students in their learning, development, and progress across all areas of the curriculum.
- Assist students with personal and educational goals, particularly those with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs.
- Promote independence and self-confidence in students, enabling them to reach their full potential.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
- Support students with their daily routines, including personal care and mobility needs.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive relationships and behaviour.
