Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Hinkley Point C, a pioneering nuclear project that will shape the future of energy production.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and accepting design changes, managing interfaces between construction contractors and designers, and ensuring compliance with nuclear safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure design and operational aspects of EPR systems meet nuclear safety and environmental requirements.
  • Approve non-conformances and design changes, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision to meet internal customer needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with EDF Engineering and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate support from external organizations and interface with the Regulator as required.
Requirements:
  • Degree or higher degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Registered member of a relevant professional institute or qualifications and experience suitable to lead to membership.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments, such as nuclear, aircraft, or petrochemical industries.
  • Experience in design and maintenance of heavy mechanical power generation equipment.
  • Experience in developing mechanical-related safety cases and liaising with regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent organizational skills, decision-making capability, and communication skills.
