Gillies of Broughty Ferry Limited is a long-established family business operating House Furnishings Stores throughout the North and East of Scotland. Due to continued profitable business despite challenging market conditions, Gillies have instructed Jenson Fisher Consulting Ltd to support with the recruitment of a Financial Controller to lead their Finance Team based at their Head Office.
As the Financial Controller, you will report to the Finance Director and play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of the company. You will oversee all financial planning, reporting, and analysis activities, ensuring that all financial practices align with the business goals and regulatory requirements.
This is a great opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented professional to make a significant impact in a fast-paced retail environment with the potential to progress into the Financial Director role in the future.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing all day-to-day accounting operations and controls.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Preparation of financial forecasts.
- Preparation of the annual accounts for review by external accountants.
- Oversight of the monthly payroll.
- Co-ordinating the management of cash flow and debt collection.
- Managing the successful submission of the Corporation tax return.
- Managing compliance for the company pension scheme.
- Supporting the senior leadership team with financial strategy and decision-making processes.
- Supervising and managing the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant (CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.
- At least 3 years' experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a user-friendly and understandable manner.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, with experience in Dynamics Nav ERP software being a plus.
- Strong Excel Skills.
