The Residential Team Leader is responsible for creating a purposeful, caring, and therapeutic learning environment for young people in our care.
Main Duties:
- Supervise and support the daily running of the team, providing advice and guidance as needed.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager during holiday periods, ensuring continuity of care.
- Carry out supervisions of individuals and provide support for key workers, promoting their continued professional development.
- Manage monies for activities and ensure the daily needs of the children are met.
- Monitor and check staff to ensure they carry out their duties effectively.
- Participate in rostered sleep-in duties as required, supporting the well-being of the young people.
- Develop programmes that improve children's progress and interaction, linking with national recognised vocational qualifications where possible.
- Work with young people in a caring and nurturing manner, developing relationships based on trust, confidence, and understanding.
- Assist in sustaining peer relationships within the home, promoting aspects of a young person's individual programme through growing personal resilience and empathy.
- Plan and participate in educational, recreational, occupational, and social activities, supporting the young people's personal growth and development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, providing support and encouragement to help build a strong child-focused team.
- Initiate actions based on risk assessments, care plans, and emotional and behavioural plans to progress the therapeutic goals of each child.
- Support young people in developing independent living and life skills, preparing them for their future.
- Induct newly admitted young people, making them feel welcome and valued members of their new home.
- Help plan and prepare young people for moving on from the home, balancing risk with opportunity.
- Enable young people to recognise and understand a wide range of emotions, helping them to validate their feelings and develop emotional regulation strategies.
- Liaise effectively with external partners, including parents, placing agencies, and other professionals, as necessary.
- Aware of and adhere to current Health & Safety regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and staff.
- Act as a keyworker for some young people, monitoring, supporting, and developing their individual placement plan, encouraging and advising on relationships and emotional health and well-being.
