Purchasing Assistant

Are you a detail-oriented and organized individual interested in procurement and supply chain management? We are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our team at Reed in Bath. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods and services to meet customer requirements.

About the Role:

  • Support the creation of purchase orders, negotiate costs, and agree on international schedules.
  • Collaborate with Sales to meet customer requirements, focusing on schedules and packing needs.
  • Liaise with teams regarding file dates and specifications.
  • Work closely with the Production Control team on upcoming orders, schedules, and ensure all necessary dummies are ordered and checked in line with customer deadlines.
  • Maintain and update estimated costs and schedules in the database, ensuring all procurement-related information is populated and chased for any missing information.
  • Create and manage procurement documents such as PQs, POs, and Assembly orders.
  • Support the Head of Procurement with process improvements to ensure a smooth flow of information through the team.
  • Maintain the quality of data and challenge product specifications to promote environmental and sustainability considerations.
  • Explore and set up alternative suppliers for formats and components, managing the process from dummy approval to account setup.
  • Attend meetings, supply and gather relevant information and materials in advance, and contribute to setting up new procedures and system improvements.

Requirements:

  • Confidence and excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organized and proactive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and database systems.
  • Experience in managing or being part of tender processes is desirable.
  • Experience in building relationships with suppliers, particularly in the Far East.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach and ambitious to learn and develop within the role.
  • Demonstrates initiative, honesty, and integrity.
  • Positive can-do attitude within a fast-changing environment.
  • Team player with a strong commitment to company values.

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum.
