Job Title: Warehouse Operative

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Operative to join our team at Johnsons 1871. As a key member of our Installations Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and the delivery of exceptional results to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and maintain a safe and efficient warehouse environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Operate and maintain forklifts and other equipment, performing daily checks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage inventory levels, tracking stock movements and conducting regular stock takes to ensure accuracy.
  • Collate and report on daily defects, informing the Operations Manager of any issues.
  • Issue personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms, registering items as required.
  • Conduct daily equipment checks and ensure vehicles are delivered for service in line with bookings.
  • Lead on health and safety initiatives, promoting a safe working environment for colleagues and visitors.
  • Assist with site housekeeping and deal with deliveries to the site.
  • Act as a driver/fitter as required by the business.
Weekly and Monthly Tasks:
  • Complete packing material stock takes and update equipment service planners.
  • Oversee the booking of plant and equipment inspections and monitor the return of vehicle and equipment service sheets.
  • Conduct weekly workplace inspections, fire alarm tests, and drills.
  • Sign off corrective actions on defect sheets and complete checks for hazards and correct issues.
  • Manage waste on site and ensure tyre inspections are completed.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a warehouse operative, with a Fork Lift Truck licence (Counterbalance & Reach truck).
  • Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices.
  • Proven ability to implement process improvements and strong organisational skills.
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage staff, with excellent communication skills.
  • Qualification in logistics and supply chain management is desirable.

  • Due to the volatile nature of jobs, flexibility to the nature of the industry is key.
  • Ability to work away in the UK and Europe when required, staying in approved accommodation with travel expenses.
