Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Primary School in Sunderland. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the KS1 curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Class Teacher: Provide assistance to the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Enhance Learning: Work one-on-one or with small groups of children to enhance their learning and support those who may require additional help.
  • Prepare Learning Materials: Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom activities to support the teaching and learning process.
  • Maintain a Positive Classroom Environment: Contribute to maintaining a positive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes social interaction and inclusivity.
  • Assess Student Progress: Observe and assess students' progress, feeding back to teachers and parents as required.
  • Support Children with SEN: Support children with special educational needs (SEN) and ensure all pupils can access learning in an inclusive environment.
  • Promote Positive Behavior: Help promote positive behavior and social interaction in line with the school's values.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) is preferred.
  • Experience: Experience working with children in KS1 or a similar setting is desirable.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine passion for supporting children's education and development.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
