Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer - Process Control Specialist

Location: Chichester

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Salary: Competitive salary plus benefits

The primary responsibility of this role will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned projects, including high-level process and electrical design & instrumentation selection. This will involve supervising the preparation and conducting of system inspections (FATs) with customers in attendance, as well as assisting with onsite commissioning and various tasks that may require travel to customer sites.

About the Role:

  • Produce Bills of Materials (BoMs) and request quotations for review by peers, leading to the placement of Purchase Order requests.
  • Review designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Participate in activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Read and interpret P&ID, Technical Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Hook-ups, and Control Philosophy documents.
  • Produce diagrams using 2D AutoCAD for review/approval, including Process & Instrumentation Diagrams / Cable Schedules / Block Cabling / Cable Termination & Schematic / Circuit Diagrams.
  • Prepare high-level process control documentation for review/approval, including I/O schedules / Cause and Effect / Test Schedules.
  • Propose suitable switchgear components within control panels & instrumentation for the process.
  • Selection of Cables / Cable Glands / Electrical Containment.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge & understanding of Quality (BS EN ISO 9001:2015) Environmental (BS EN14001:2015) Safety (ISO 45001:2018) Explosive Atmospheres (ISO/IEC 80079-34) standards.
  • Develop skills with design systems and associated software to perform required tasks.
  • Perform any other duties for which the electrical design engineer is experienced, qualified, and capable of undertaking that will add value and at the request of Line Manager or other Senior Management.
