About the Role:

The Offshore Maintenance Manager will be responsible for delivering the capability and availability of the charity's offshore vessels to provide sea-going experience for cadets and ensuring the safety of all personnel on board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing day-to-day support in identifying defects and safety shortcomings, determining solutions, and assisting in rectification or organising cost-effective professional repairs at advantageous prices.
  • Producing, overseeing, and tracking (technically and financially) the winter maintenance work packages for the fleet.
  • Developing the charity's Safety Management System, as related to the technical running and management of each offshore vessel.
  • Assisting engineer officers of the charity's vessels with maintenance tasks.
  • Managing records to support and evidence maintenance programmes.
  • Acting as an occasional relief engineer on board any of the three larger vessels.

Requirements:

  • An engineer with HNC or similar professional qualification and significant experience in the maritime sector in seagoing and shore support roles.
  • A broad engineering experience across the mechanical, electrical, and electronic disciplines.
  • Experience in using and managing Electronic Planned Maintenance Systems.
  • Effective liaison with ship and shore staff, external authorities, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Health and fitness necessary to obtain industry-recognised medical certification (ENG1).

Desirable:

  • Power and sail background across a variety of vessels.
  • Experience with maintaining vessels in Lloyd's or other recognised Classification Society Rules and Flag State 'Code of Practice.'
  • Experience working with young people.
