Visual Effects Specialist

At Framestore, we're seeking a skilled Visual Effects Specialist to join our Immersive team in London. As a key member of our team, you'll work alongside experienced FX TDs and Technical Artists to deliver high-quality FX elements for our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team to create particle, rigid-body, fluid, cloth, fur, and hair simulations or animations.
  • Develop lighting and materials that work seamlessly with FX to produce stunning visuals.
  • Utilize commercial and proprietary FX tools, including Houdini and Maya, to execute real-time elements in Unreal Engine.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure shots are delivered to the highest standard.
  • Design and create images, elements, effects, pipelines, tools, and techniques.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience with Unreal Engine and Niagara.
  • Excellent knowledge of Houdini.
  • Thorough understanding of simulated and procedural FX techniques.
  • Experience producing effects for environments like smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, destruction, and explosions.
  • Good understanding of animation and the visual effects process within Games, VFX, or adjacent industries.
  • Familiarity with pipeline issues, especially working between multiple packages.
  • Strong understanding of flipbook animation and vertex animation.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of other simulation packages, such as EmberGen.
  • Experience with other render packages or real-time engines, like Unity or 1st party.
  • Familiarity with UE Blueprints.
  • Strong Vex, HScript, Python, and/or Mel scripting skills.

Work Arrangements:

Framestore offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing employees to split their time between home and office. While working from home for most of the week is feasible, attendance at team meetings held in our London office will be required.
