Early Years Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team at an outstanding primary school in Newham. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of our students with diverse needs.

About the Role

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our experienced teachers and SENCO to provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing morning support to students with SEMH needs, including those with ADHD and self-harming behaviors.
  • Fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students, using your skills to support diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers and SENCO to implement tailored support plans and interventions.
  • Providing afternoon support across Key Stages 1 and 2, adapting to the needs of different age groups.
  • Building strong relationships with students, promoting their holistic development.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience as a Nursery or Early Years Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Comfort and experience with nappy changing.
  • Proactivity and resilience, with a strong understanding of SEN, safeguarding, and child protection practices.
  • Versatility, with the ability to support with nappy changing and cater to individual special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
