Procurement Strategist

Mansell Recruitment Group Plc is seeking an ambitious experienced electronic-biased Purchasing Manager to join our business.

This candidate will have extensive purchasing experience, over 10 years of management and an electronics background.

Negotiating with suppliers is key in this role, ensuring timely and cost-effective supply of all materials and sub-assemblies to meet operational requirements.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for closing liaison with various departments including Planning, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and Engineering disciplines to maximise procurement performance.

Main Responsibilities:

• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure cost savings while maintaining quality and reliability standards.
• Oversee the supplier portfolio to optimise the flow of products from various sources to meet operational demands.
• Establish departmental KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities by sourcing, evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, price, reliability and delivery speed.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing processes and overall performance.
• Develop effective purchasing strategies for materials, supplies and services to align with business objectives.
• Manage supplier performance through evaluation and relationship building to ensure reliability and quality while supporting strategic departmental goals.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Store teams to ensure materials are available promptly to meet operational demands.
• Monitor and forecast demand levels to maintain a continuous supply of materials while minimising excess inventory.

Requirements:

A relevant engineering qualification (ideally in electronics)

Over 10 years of experience managing a team (essential)

CIPS Level 6 certification

Proficiency in using ERP and MRP tools

Knowledge of electronic components

Able to negotiate favourable terms with suppliers

Excellent negotiation skills

Up-to-date knowledge of modern procurement practice

Solid understanding of logistics and supply chain

The estimated salary for this position is £62,500, considering the location and job requirements.
