Company & Project: A successful Tier 1 Main Contractor operating across Essex is currently seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead 2nd Stage procurement across multiple projects. The position is a newly created specialism within the business with the majority of the 2025/26 pipeline two-stage projects. Our client has a busy order book, especially in the local market across multiple sectors including Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Mixed-Use, MOD, and Residential valued to c£100m. The successful candidate will be responsible for cost estimation and budgeting, liaising with internal departments - e.g. design, estimating, planning, and bid management. Preparing procurement strategy for packages from order to start on site, liaising with sub-contractors and supply chain to ensure prompt return of quotes/pricing, assessing and reviewing subcontractor responses in line with project design. At all times, encourage and promote cooperative working and long-term relationships with the business's supply chain.

Experience: Experience working on 2-stage projects is essential for this position.

Desirable Experience:

  1. Minimum 10 years+ experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Main Contractor.
  2. Stable career history with experience working on New Build projects in excess of £20m.
  3. Excellent negotiation skills and previous experience procuring subcontractors.
  4. Previous Roles: Managing QS, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project QS, Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Senior Cost Manager, Pre-Contract Surveyor.

Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or comparable qualification including HNC, BTEC, NVQ, or MSc.

Our client is a successful Tier 1 Main Contractor operating across Essex, with a busy order book and a strong presence in the local market. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading 2nd Stage procurement across multiple projects, working closely with internal departments and the supply chain to ensure prompt return of quotes/pricing and assessing subcontractor responses in line with project design. The ideal candidate will have a stable career history, excellent negotiation skills, and previous experience procuring subcontractors. A degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or comparable qualification is required.
