Blue Cross is a leading charity with a network of over 50 retail shops across England and Wales, offering a wide range of products from clothing and books to toys and household goods. Our shops not only provide a platform for people to donate pre-loved items but also offer a range of new products. Every item sold contributes to our vital work, supporting sick, injured, and homeless pets and caring for over 40,000 animals each year through our rehoming, veterinary, and education programs.
As a Retail Operations Manager in our Lichfield charity shop, you will play a crucial role in managing day-to-day operations, working closely with the Shop Manager. Your responsibilities will include managing donations, organizing displays and merchandising, coordinating stock deliveries and collections, maintaining accurate records, and handling cash transactions with care.
In addition to your operational duties, you will also inspire and lead a team of volunteers, recruiting, training, and motivating them to ensure they are equipped to support our cause.
You will work together with the Shop Manager to shape the shop's local impact, creating a welcoming and engaging space for customers and volunteers.
Our shops operate Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 17:00. Your shift pattern may vary week by week to accommodate business needs, and you may be required to work weekends and occasional lone shifts.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Previous experience in a retail environment
* Cash handling and reconciliation expertise
* A knack for leading and motivating a team
* Excellent customer service skills and a positive, friendly attitude
* Strong computer and administrative skills
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances
While experience in managing volunteers and fundraising would be beneficial, it is not essential. We offer a competitive salary of ¢25,000 - ¢30,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits including 38 days of annual leave (increasing to 43 with service), a pension scheme, and access to employee assistance programs.
At Blue Cross, we value our employees and strive to create a supportive and rewarding work environment. We believe that our people are the key to delivering our mission, and we are committed to providing them with opportunities for growth and development.
If you are a motivated and experienced retail professional looking for a new challenge, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

* Competitive salary of ¢25,000 - ¢30,000 per annum
* 38 days of annual leave (increasing to 43 with service)

* Claim for professional fees
* Charity worker discounts across a variety of retailers
